Recording Policy

Recording Policy

Colorado Technical University (CTU) may record classroom sessions and other academic-related events (e.g., Live Chat, office hours, advising sessions, etc.) for use by students, faculty, and staff. Students who join recorded events with their web camera engaged, or who utilize a profile image while in a recorded event, are consenting to have their video or image recorded. If students are unwilling to consent to have their profiles or video images recorded, they should keep their web camera off and not use a profile image. Likewise, students who un-mute during a recorded event and participate orally are consenting to have their voices recorded. If students are not willing to consent to have their voices recorded during the event, they will need to keep their mute button activated and communicate exclusively using the "chat" feature, which allows students to type questions and comments live.

Recording of Academic Events by Students

Unauthorized student recording of classroom sessions or other academic-related events is strictly prohibited by CTU. Additionally, the unauthorized use of any event recording is also prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, copying, reproducing, sharing, disseminating, reposting, or modifying classroom session recordings or academic-related event recordings. Students requesting the use of assistive technology as a CTU-authorized accommodation should review the CTU ADA/Section 504 Reasonable Accommodations Policy. Students authorized to utilize recordings in connection with a formal approved ADA/504 accommodation will be instructed on limits to such authority and proper use.

Any student who violates the Recording Policy is subject to the CTU Student Conduct Policy and other related policies and applicable laws.
